Comments from the Coalition:

"my personal thanks to all the receivers, liaisons and senders I am surrounded by… each having a key cog in the wheel… the wheel doesn’t turn without the group effort…for everyone's sacrifice and dedication, for every noticed and unnoticed act of compassion…"

"THIS is what all of you have done this year!!!!!!! Yes, there are a few sad stories here, because I can’t let their passing be in vain.... I won’t ever forget them, but look at the promise of those eyes and the ones who did make it… they are living for those who have gone on… to one and all, and so many of you behind the scenes helping when no one is aware… thank you again...."

"It takes the dedicated efforts of all to save these precious lives. Hours of scouring the pounds, begging for more time, praying this one will be safe for just a few more days. The pushing at adoption events, grooming, the shuffling to make room for "just one more", the begging vets for at least a little discount, meeting before dawn to get as many into a vehicle as possible, driving for hours, scrubbing poopy crates, but the happy little furry faces are worth it. Even when the exhaustion and burn-out set in, none of us can turn our backs and walk away. It’s in our blood; it’s what keeps US alive. Rescue is not just in our hearts, it is our hearts."

"6,000 lives is an amazing thing. Rescue can be a very difficult thing and it can take alot from a person. Doing all that y'all do, depsite the difficulty and, often times, the sadness is testimony to what a caring group of people you are. Seeing that number, 6,000, or seeing that dog go to his forever home when he was scheduled to die the week before, makes every bit of it worth it. I believe 2008 is going to be a better year with a stronger movement towards no-kill. It is people like y'all that keep that hope alive."

"Knowing that so many people are working together and making such a HUGE difference (6,000!!) really is heartwarming and brings tears to my eyes! I want to say thank you to the other rescue groups who pull from this Coalition, but the HUGEST of thanks to those who do everything prior to us receiving them. All the work in getting the pictures out and the long, hard hours of preparation and coordination... I'm very proud and honored to be part of such a wonderful, truly caring, and dedicated group! May all our hopes for animal rescue be exceeded in 2008!!"

"To the Illinois Animal Rescue,
It is with deep gratitude that I write this e-mail. Because of yours and others efforts to help us in 2007, we saved over a 1000 animals that would have been euthanized in our rural Kentucky shelters. The rescues, humane societies and no kill shelters that make up your coalition are invaluable allies to those of us in Kentucky that struggle everyday to lower the number of precious animals that are killed.
Bless you all and thank you. I look forward to a continued friendship between us in 2008.
