Most of the animals below are in city or county pounds that are practicing high rates of euthanasia. Due to the vast amount of unwanted pets, the unfortunate overpopulation of unaltered animals and the lack of education throughout the state of Illinois, these animals may be put to death by lethal injection or gas chamber, before the week is out.

Some animal controls are euthanizing dogs and cats twice weekly, some on garbage day and some before holidays for staff convenience. Some pounds refuse to work with rescues, claiming it is too much work and easier to let them die.

 We do not find this acceptable and need your help.
