Flood Victims!

DISASTER CAUSES COUNTIES IN ILLINOIS TO BE DECLARED ‘DISASTERS’

The normal flooding caused by the mass amounts of animals (kitten/puppy season) flooding into facilities has expanded this year with the water flooding of homes, offices and businesses, which are leaving more animals homeless and suffering unnecessary euthanasia. Through loss and devastation, brings just that, loss and devastation, not only to us, but to the animals.

For months now, rescuers have been trying to save not only the thousands of animals that would normally be put to death daily, due to the vast overpopulation of animals, but now they are struggling to rescue hundreds more! They are under pressure to rescue them from flooded facilities throughout the state, with many more animals then normal inundating them, due to flooding in our communities.

Rescuers are working tirelessly, day and night to pull as many adoptable animals from death, disease, abandonment and unnecessary euthanasia. With no animal control facilities, where will the animals go?

One animal control facility who suffered a devastating fire last November, who still does not yet have a facility, has been struggling to rebuild, in the flood.

So again, where do all of the animals go?

We can tell you where they are going:
Over 30 innocent kittens were put to death in one day this past week (this number does not include the puppies, cats and dogs that were euthanized that day) in one facility in Illinois.

Some organizations in the Chicagoland area that may receive animals into their program through Illinois Animal Rescue, who are normally filled due to the normal day to day influx of animals, can only do what they can when disaster strikes. Even if the mass amounts of animals being threatened by suffering or euthanasia are accepted by an organization, money is needed to vet them, care for them and get them transported to the Chicagoland facilities through Illinois Animal Rescue, volunteers. That needed money is now being spent. Rescuers need to pull them out of the horrific conditions, house, feed them and care for all of the surviving animals.

The current unwanted kittens available through Illinois Animal Rescue would have been number 31 through number 42 on that (“E”) euthanasia list just a few days ago.

Illinois Animal Rescue is on the front line of animal rescue and is doing all that we can to rescue as many of the helpless lives possible. We are only able do this with your support.

Please consider becoming a 'rescuer' by becoming a foster home (this will enable IAR to rescue the unwanted/unaccepted into our adoption program), sponsor a transport or a life, donate your time or supplies, and monetary donations are always appreciated!

With the thousands of animals being unnecessarily euthanized daily, Illinois should be declared a ‘state of disaster’, now more then ever!
