Illinois can be the first NO-KILL state!
RESCUE.
Illinois Animal Rescue, Inc is made up of individuals, rescuers, transporters, humane investigators, a coalition of humane societies, and many others. Just regular people, scattered throughout the state of
IAR strives to rescue, transport and offer humane care to the animals in our communities throughout the state of Illinois and the surrounding states.
We are Rescue…
Over the years, we have all saved thousands upon thousands of animals; in 2007 over 6,000 precious lives where saved from abandonment, neglect, abuse and unnecessary euthanasia. This was all accomplished through generous donations of volunteers. Costs are increasing, so we need to reach out to YOU, the community to help us fulfill our mission - the saving of the innocent lives. Illinois Animal Rescue, Inc. is a licensed, 501(c)(3), non profit and no kill rescue organization.
Our goals are to ensure that every animal is treated with the respect that they deserve and to educate our communities on the importance of spaying or neutering their pets to solve the pet overpopulation problem; the humane treatment and care of all animals; to rescue the many animals that are serving life sentences in no-kill facilities, do to the lack of education about rescue; and the rescue and transportation of the many animals that are being put to death in our communities every day, due to no fault of their own. Through the efforts of the coalition of rescuers, over 6,000 lives were saved in 2007.
The dogs and cats are so very appreciative of your support. Together we can save these forsaken loving 'innocents' who are condemned to death.
Number of cats and dogs in 2007 that their lives were saved through Illinois Animal Rescue's Coalition: Over 6,000!
We are so very appreciative of your support, and will continue to grow our network bigger and better in 2008. In the coming year, we
will continue our goal of giving every single animal in Illinois the opportunity to get to rescue, gain exposure for the pounds in need and develop good relationships with only the best rescues that meet our criteria.

I have bought dog food with my last dime
I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand
I have hugged someone vicious and afraid
I have fallen in love a thousand times
And I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body too many times to count
I have animal friends and friends who have animal friends
I don't often use the word "pet"
I notice those lost at the road side
And my heart aches
I will hand raise a field mouse

And make friends with a vulture
I know of no creature unworthy of my time
I want to live forever if there aren't any animals in Heaven
But I believe there are
Why would God make something so perfect and leave it behind
Some may think we are master of the animals
But the animals have mastered themselves
Something people still haven't learned
War and abuse make me hurt for the world
But a rescue that makes the news gives me hope for mankind
We are a quiet but determined army
And we are making
a difference every day
There is nothing more necessary than warming an orphan
Nothing more rewarding than saving a life
No higher recognition than watching them thrive
There is no greater joy than seeing a baby play
Who only days ago, was too weak to eat
By the love of those who I've been privileged to rescue
I have been rescued
I know what true unconditional love really is
For I've seen it shining in the eyes of so many
Grateful for so little
I am an Animal Rescuer
My work is never done
My home is never quiet
My wallet is always empty
But my heart is always full

RESCUE OF THE WEEK!
Rhett
RESCUED by THORR
Meet Rhett! The pictures of Rhett are graphic proof of yet another
tragic case of abuse and neglect. On April 1st, this boy was picked up
as a stray in Cutler, Illinois and brought to Perry County Animal
Control. No one knows what happened to him or how long he had been
wandering the streets with this injury. THORR (True Hearts of Rottweiler Rescue) made a commitment to help give him a second chance. Rhett was pulled from animal control so he could be seen by a vet and transported up north.
He will need special care and a lot of medical treatment. He was named Rhett (after Rhett Butler) for his tenacity and determination despite the pain and abuse he has suffered.
Beautiful Rhett
